Call it what it actually is: extortion. this is not "free" market, this is the kind of piracy the US has been carrying on for centuries. The story tellers just spew propaganda allowing most amerikans to continue to live the lie.

Having been in the oil business and worked for ten years near the Arabian Gulf, I can attest to the fact that our global crude oil system is built to absorb delays and re-route shipping as needed. Most countries have significant buffers (e.g., SPRs) which can replace stalled / slow crude oil shipments for weeks or even months.

However, that's not the case for things like fertilizer and helium, both of which are highly dependent on the Strait of Hormuz for their shipment, to say nothing of crude oil products such as jet fuel. E.g., miss a planting season due to low fertilizer availability, and you can miss a year of harvest. A lack of these products is much more likely to contribute to a global recession, because sufficient alternate resources are not easily available. Yet we hear little analysis of those events.
