Your earlier piece on the changes in tanker routes was what got me to subscribe. I had been following Jeff Childers' writing on the President's reconfiguring of the world's energy markets in our favor in his Coffee & COVID Substack. There are additional elements, and the story is bigger and better for us. One of those aspects is the squeeze that's being put on China. We removed Venezuela, have neutralized Iran for the moment (in terms of oil exports), AND we formed a significant military/naval presence in Indonesia's Strait of Malacca, another major avenue for oil destined for China. As President Trump likes to say, this is HUGE! I've been saying for some time that it may look like chaos, but The Donald actually has a plan, and we'll benefit enormously in the longer term if it succeeds. I certainly didn't see the dissolution of OPEC coming, but combine that with a hoped for expansion of the Abraham Accords, and this President could end up being the most consequential Executive in the modern era. What I enjoy about your writing is your willingness to look beyond individual occurrences and see a larger picture.

I appreciate your support and your feedback. I try not to consume any media at all these days and just focus on what I see. It has worked out pretty well. Sure, I miss some things and catch others, but maybe that is the point. The endless 24 hour news cycle is devastating to our well being, so I turned it off. This was a passing headline that I happened to catch that caught me off guard so I had to dig in. I am so glad it resonated with you!

Your moratorium on media is more strict than mine! I was forced, for my own mental health, to do something similar (albeit not as restricted) a few years ago. I happened across Coffee & COVID in a conservative discussion forum, and became a free subscriber. (The asking price for a paid sub is outside my fixed income budget right now, as we're having to foot the bills for my cancer treatments outside of Medicare and traditional oncology.) The likely collapse of OPEC is something I've been hoping for for half a century, and the politics of oil is something of an obsession with me.

Prayers for a full recovery! Once I discovered that our emotions were being manipulated to excuse and permit atrocities in our name, it was very easy to turn it all off.

Typo. OPEC

You know he could’ve formed an alliance in his first term with Russia and busted a boat pack without killing a bunch of people. If breaking Opec was his goal wouldn’t have done it this way. He just picked on the wrong person and totally screwed up his legacy.
