Your writing popped up on my feed, most likely because I have been using this Substack as reflections of my mind that seem to have a lot of loss within- I recently wrote about the passing of my father too. It was also abrupt, no warning which is the biggest shock heartbreak I have had aside from a recent loss of my 15 yr old cat.
My cat, his name was Guy is my longest relationship to date. His name seems fitting. It’s actually short for Gaius which means “happy” and is Julius Ceasars first name for what it’s worth.
Life. Death. The transition for those still standing are the hardest part.
I adore your gardening photos. I have been doing the same as you; channeling grief into a bloom 🌼
I’m glad your Dad finally found our veteran community. Especially for his war. It was different than anything that came before or since then. My uncle is a Vietnam Vet, and I wish he had been able to find the same. Even if it was a late arrival, I know it felt like a home to him. Over a decade out from my own exit from service, it’s a special type of bond that we see in each other without having to say a word. It’s an instant connection, an infinite pool of conversations just waiting to take place.
If I had to guess, he did plan it. Call me crazy. Wouldn’t be the first time. I lost my mom over 20 years ago and I swear sometimes I can feel her hand on my shoulder. Especially in June. Her birthday was 1 June. I get it. And he would be proud of you for fighting the good fight.
What a beautiful and powerful piece. You and your team did an outstanding job. With only one week to campaign, you presented a great platform and a had a real vision. You are a class act. Your dad would be proud.
I'm sorry you had to undergo the fire from small-minded people and the hate spewed from those who don't even deserve a seat at the table. And I don't believe in the #FakeUnity they are claiming. How on earth do you "unify" when the hypocrisy and hate have not been called out by the ones demanding unity?
So very proud of you.... and proud to call you friend!
That is enough for today, Ada! I know your Father is proud.
Unity does need to be given every opportunity. Appreciate your wisdom there. Our opponents want us divided. It can't happen. Forward together!!!
Way to go, sweetheart... I'm truly proud!

Many hugs from myself to you,
Tera
& sometimes it just sucks when you are 'still here'.
Good on ya for keeping your chin'up.
From a first born, adopted with a fabulous father gone & is missed very much.
