A Teacher. A Conviction. A Baby. And a System That Let It All Happen.
This happened in our backyard. And no one was supposed to notice.
A few weeks ago, a video went viral: two men celebrating the birth of their child through surrogacy. Sweet moment, right?
Then people started asking questions. One of the men looked familiar.
He should. He used to be a high school chemistry teacher in Chester County, PA—until he was convicted of sex crimes involving a minor student.
Let me walk you through this.
The 2016 Conviction That Everyone Forgot
This teacher worked at Downingtown West High School.
In 2016, he was charged with:
Sending over 12,000 explicit messages to a 16-year-old male student
Sharing nude photos of himself
Encouraging the student to send explicit content in return
He pled guilty to child pornography and corruption of minors. He lost his teaching license.
He served a short sentence, something like two months. And then he vanished.
The Comeback — via Surrogacy
Fast-forward to 2025. He re-emerges on social media.
This time, it’s a viral video of him and his husband introducing their newborn baby, delivered through gestational surrogacy.
People recognized him. Looked into it. Confirmed it was the same guy.
Here’s the problem:
Under Pennsylvania law, registered sex offenders can’t foster or adopt, but surrogacy is a legal workaround. He got a pre-birth custody order and full legal parental rights. No red flags. No barriers.

This Isn’t an Exception. It’s a Pattern.
Let’s call it what it is:
This isn’t a loophole. It’s a systemic failure.
Schools that allow predators near kids
Courts that give out light sentences
Legal frameworks that can’t keep up
No oversight once someone drops off the public radar
And now a man who once sent nude photos to a teenager from a classroom computer… is holding a newborn. With legal custody. In the public spotlight. Smiling.
What We're Fighting For
Our advocacy isn’t about “being loud.” It’s about being honest.
We’ve been sounding the alarm about the sexualization of children in schools for years. About teachers crossing boundaries. About systems looking the other way.
This case proves why we fight.
PA residents need to advocate for:
Stronger laws around surrogacy—same standards as adoption
Mandatory disclosure of past sex crimes in custody or parenting arrangements
School accountability for how these people ever got hired in the first place
Zero tolerance for teachers or authority figures who exploit minors
This isn’t paranoia. It’s reality.
And it’s happening right here in Chester County.
Bottom Line
This isn’t about one man. In fact, we have seen this same type of scenario play out with catastrophic results before.
It’s about a broken system that protected him more than it protected the child he already harmed.
And now, it’s enabling him to raise a child of his own.
We don’t accept that.
We’re here to protect children, not adults with a past the system prefers we forget.
And we’re not done talking about it.
If you’re still here, you get it.
The stories they hope we forget are the ones we need to remember.
